World Contraception Day: A Conference for the Women of the Maisha Community

On September 27th, in celebration of World Contraception Day, the Centre d’Éveil de la Femme (CEF) gathered the women of the Maisha community at Golf Faustin for an event of awareness, exchanges, and sharing covering key topics, such as contraception, family planning, women's and children's rights, as well as entrepreneurship and empowerment.

This event was a great opportunity for CEF to support and strengthen the autonomy of the women in the community, providing them not only with valuable information but also with a clearer vision of their future and practical ways to take control of their destiny.

The activity began with a warm welcome for the participants, followed by an introduction of the speakers. Madame Mamie, Head Nurse of the Center, captivated the audience by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of different contraceptive methods. She also took the time to answer participants' questions, clarifying common misconceptions and misunderstandings.

The topic of family planning was then addressed, focusing on the importance of available methods for the health of women and children.

Our director, Madame Falonne, shed light on the fundamental rights of women and children, emphasizing how essential it is for everyone to have access to information and protection. This part of the conference was particularly well received, sparking numerous exchanges on the importance of creating a secure and fulfilling living environment for families.

The final part of the conference focused on entrepreneurship and women's empowerment, two essential pillars for enabling them to break free from economic constraints. It was an inspiring discussion on the opportunities available to them to shape their own futures, with concrete examples and compelling testimonials.

The day concluded with a convivial cocktail, where participants and speakers were able to continue exchanging ideas in a relaxed and warm atmosphere. This moment of sharing helped strengthen bonds and allowed for deeper discussions initiated during the conference.

The event was a great success, reflecting the growing interest of women in these vital topics. Their commitment, eagerness to learn, and need for support were clearly evident, highlighting the importance of continuing these initiatives.

We would like to thank Madame Godelieve, journalist from La Guardia, whose presence brought valuable visibility to the event and helped raise awareness of the issues discussed among a broader audience.
